As I was posting the handmade houses yesterday I was struck by similarities to Diane von Furstenberg's NY live/work space, which she calls her "tree house."  Something about the mix of materials and indoor/outdoor vibe reminded me of a (very) high-end version of those cozy, down-to-earth homes.
